Founded in 1974, the Contra Costa Ballet Foundation is a not-for-profit organization whose purpose is to support lecture demonstrations, scholarships, and a regional company which offers a performing outlet for aspiring young dancers in an atmosphere of professional excellence, and to acquaint, educate and enrich audiences of all ages. The Foundation sponsors two major productions annually - Story of the Nutcracker and a Spring Repertory.
The Foundation enables the Contra Costa Ballet Company to participate in various community events. Each year, we participate in the Walnut Creek Light parade and in the Christmas event at the Broadway Plaza. Each spring at Sun Valley Mall, we do a lecture demo, demonstrating the basics and ethics of ballet while bringing out the joy and fun of this performing art. We also do lecture demos for schools.
